An Indigo story

A collection of prints using different techniques ranging from a tie & dye, to hand screen prints and even block prints The white center of the Runner is quilted.

Interwoven Runners and Placemat

An intricate and complex technique, the fabric is first converted int lengths of tape. It is then interwoven and secured onto a piece of paper. Once the interwoven piece is ready the paper is removed and we have created a texture for a table linen collection.

Embroidered Quilt

Hand, Crewel and satin stitch embroidery all in this one quilt. Hand quilted in a diamond pattern.

Modern Patchwork

An interplay of textures and tonal colours, set in a modern geo pattern, hand quilted by women artisans, are what give this quilt it’s character.

Fairyland

Soft pastel colors appliqued and embroidered whimsical fairy motifs. The diamond and channel quilting is done by hand by women artisans.

Sailboat

Embroidery and applique, gingham checks and a patchwork border create the playful Look of this quilt. The quilting is hand done by women artisans, a square pattern in the center and channel on the outer border.

Waves Duvet Cover

Jacquard woven using a blend of viscose and polyester. The jacquard is then transfer printed to give it that rich textured feel.

Bird Duvet Cover

Prints are designed by our in house artists and textile designers in our Design Studio, with inspiration, very often being taken from nature.

Napkin Assortment

An interesting way to set a table – different napkins for each person at the table. A combination of print and embroidery.

Hand guided machine quilting

A very traditional yet contemporary quilt, the first step is to piece together a block and then sew blocks to create the quilt topper. After sandwiching the cotton batting each block is held firm on a frame and quilted in the intricate pattern.

Ruffled Duvet Cover

A fine percale fabric with a gathered ruffle flange. The embroidery detailing on the ruffle is done by Hand using strips of fabric.

Frame Duvet Cover

It is all in the simplicity, a high thread count fabric with a contrast color framing the top of the bed.

A glimpse into our material archive

French Knots

Multiple strands of yarn are loosely twisted and wrapped around a hooked needle to deftly create French knots that lend dimension and texture to any embroidery.

Patchwork and Embroidery

The different fabric textures and the kantha stitch creates the decorative element.The fraying lends dimension.

Hand Embroidery

The Artisan uses different stitch types to create an embroidery that has great dimension and texture. The bugle beads sewn by hand add that little bit of bling.

Threadwork

Multiple strands of a wooly yarn are secured to the fabric by embroidering over them.

Vermicelli Quilting

Crewel or Chain stitch embroidery with Vermicelli quilting both done by skilled crafts people

Textured Fabric

A fabric woven using special textured yarns to create dimension. The skill is in knowing where to use what yarn.

Patchwork Quilts

The making of a patchwork quilt is in itself an art. Each fabric is first cut to the shape and size required. Individual fabrics are then pieced together very systematically. In this case in strips. The strips are then joined one by one to form a block. Different blocks are sewn together to create this dramatic effect. The quilt is hand quilted by our women atrisans. Patchwork quits are a labour of love.

Hand embroidery

A pick stitch embroidery with an outline done in a stem stitch creates a modern abstract pattern.

Trims

The latest addition. Whether as trim for a curtain, an embellishment on a Duvet cover or even a cushion – a versatile product.

Jacquards

The finest of Jacquards woven on sophisticated Italian looms. These jacquards can be ornamental damasks, to florals and geometric patterns.

Giving back to Society

We at Sarita Handa Exports have been actively involved with the welfare of our workers and the society we are all a part of. Working through the family’s Trust and with Non - Government Organizations in the field of education and health. Women’s empowerment and the girl child are especially close to our hearts.
